We write to open a door and to formalize our call to connect. Next month, the National Adaptation Forum will be at the RiverCentre to talk about climate solutions. We are hosting an event, to coincide with the Forum, to introduce the Society of Mother Earth as an intentional space to gather, build community through music and storytelling, and process climate change together.

As an integral part of our community, we need your support to carry out this work. As someone who is connected to Society of Mother Earth activities, the Buffalo Show, Healing Circles and Wilder Buffalo Rides, we are reaching out to you to help us make this happen.

We are looking for 100 people who can contribute $25
(more if you can, less if you can't)

WHAT: Society of Mother Earth (S.O.M.E) hosts a musical and storytelling event for our local community with a special invitation to participants from the National Adaptation Forum.

COST: Free and open to the public

WHEN: Wednesday May 15 from 7pm - 9pm

WHERE: The Lost Fox in Lower Town, a groovy bar, restaurant and coffee shop.

WITH: The Buffalo Weavers, Change Narrative guest storyteller, Kenny Blumenfeld and a video screening of the S.O.M.E. climate action project, with coffee and cocktail social hour.

In a time of reckoning, we see that typical conferences can not meet all our needs or rise to our vision. It is time to open our own spaces together, center wisdom, not experts and take some risks to gather in new ways. We feel an important part of that is building community in creating and hosting the events, not just at the events.

Coming this summer we are planning to host a day-long gathering called, "A Time of Reckoning" to center wisdom in our own ways with Richard Moves Camp, Lakota traditional Healer and Esther Yazzie, Dine Elder. More information to come.
