Surrounding Water will be a three week circumnavigation of Lake Superior by bicycle with a vision to unify communities through song, discussion, and storytelling. Acting as a charter bearer to the Great Lakes Commons, I will use their visionary Commons Charter in my performances as an invitation to a broad and inclusive conversation concerning the state of our fresh water.  

• How can we change our stories about water?
• How can we become better ancestors, teaching our children that the health of our water, communities and ecosystems are interdependent?  
• How would our relationship and treatment of water change if we understood it as a shared gift with tied responsibilities, instead of as a resource to exploit?
• How can we act on behalf of the water as a commons to ensure the perpetual care of Lake Superior?
